Akankunda Adrine, a resident of Kanyambiriri II Cell, Kashenyi, Rutoto Sub-county in Rubirizi District, had completed Primary Seven last year. Due to her parents' financial challenges, she was taken in by a family friend in Kigondo, Kakanju Sub-county, Bushenyi District, to continue her education. She was later admitted to Senior One at Katunga Secondary School. According to the family, the attack occurred on 28 April this year. Since then, Adrine has been receiving treatment at Kampala International University Teaching Hospital, Ishaka. The family says they have exhausted all their resources and can no longer afford the medical expenses.
